Traveloop brings together tourism passes, local merchants, travel privileges, cultural experiences and interactive activities in Malaysia. We built two connected systems: the Traveloop digital tourism platform, and Urban Sprint, a location-based team race in George Town, Penang.

The challenge

Why a brochure website couldn't run Traveloop's business

Traveloop sells tourism passes, connects travellers with local merchants and runs live experiences. A conventional travel website could not support that whole customer and operational journey.

  • Scattered discovery

Attractions, local offers and cultural activities sat across unrelated providers. Travellers needed one place to start.

  • Sales and accounts

Pass tiers, checkout, payment records, bookings and customer accounts all needed structured handling.

  • A growing partner network

Merchants, categories, privileges and offers needed to be presented and maintained in one directory.

  • More engaging experiences

Urban Sprint turns city exploration into a team competition with missions and checkpoints.

  • Live event operations

Teams, start times, capacity, checkpoints, mission checks, scoring and leaderboards all have to work together during a race.

Run by hand, a live race means manual coordination, inconsistent scoring and delayed results, in front of paying participants.

The solution

What we built: a tourism commerce platform and a live race system

Two systems on one foundation: the customer-facing Traveloop platform, and Urban Sprint for live events.

Traveloop digital tourism platform

Travel discovery, pass sales, experiences and a local partner network in one place.

  • Website and discovery

Responsive destination and experience pages, travel guides and promotions in English and Chinese.

  • Tourism pass sales

Silver, Gold and Platinum passes with online checkout, payments, transaction records and confirmations.

  • Customer accounts

Registration, sign-in, account details, purchase history and pass and booking records.

  • Experience booking

Booking flows for cultural activities, with participant details and dates.

  • Partner directory

Dining, shopping, wellness and experiences by category, with merchant privileges and promotions.

  • Back office

Customer, transaction and booking management, with permissions by role.

Urban Sprint

A location-based team challenge in George Town, Penang. Teams visit participating locations and complete missions to earn points.

  • Registration and scheduling

Team sign-up, race-time selection, participant details, start-time capacity and booking references.

  • Team management

Team records, race information and a view of each team's progress.

  • Missions and checkpoints

Landmark, food, café, retail and photo challenges, with station tracking and gamemaster verification.

  • Scoring engine

Points per task, category boosters and ranking logic.

  • Live leaderboard

Shared rankings that update as scores come in.

  • Gamemaster tools

Station confirmation, team management, score history, boosters and oversight for organisers.

Our approach

Why one connected system for commerce and live events

The Traveloop platform connects discovery, payments, accounts, bookings and merchants. Urban Sprint extends the same base into live experiences through mobile web pages and shared data, so participants and organisers need no special equipment or separate app.

Traveloop

  1. Discovery
  2. Purchase
  3. Account
  4. Experience
  5. Partner offers

Urban Sprint

  1. Race sign-up
  2. Team setup
  3. Missions
  4. Verification
  5. Scoring
  6. Leaderboard

The outcome

What changed for Traveloop

Traveloop runs its customer journey and its live events on connected systems instead of separate tools.

Before

  • Product details in separate places
  • Bookings handled one by one
  • Partner offers scattered
  • Race coordination by hand

After

  • One site for discovery and passes
  • Accounts, payments and bookings connected
  • One partner directory
  • Live race system with scoring and leaderboard
  • Travellers can discover, buy and manage tourism passes in one place, in English or Chinese.
  • Customer, transaction, booking and merchant records are organised in one system.
  • Urban Sprint registrations, teams and start times are managed digitally, up to 10 teams per start time and 5 start times a day.
  • Gamemaster checks, scoring and rankings share one workflow, with a live leaderboard for every team.
